Skål International 2022 Sustainable Tourism Awards: Entrants & Jury
The Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards have been giving recognition and highlighting best practices to entities in the tourism industry for the last 21 years.
The prestige that these awards have acquired has not diminished since the creation of this programme in 2002, with over 950 participants throughout the years.
The call for entries of the 21th Sustainable Tourism Awards is now closed and we are pleased to announce that 50 eligible entries from 23 countries worldwide are competing in the nine available categories. We are delighted to present the entrants, who are endorsed by a Skål International club, except in the case of Government Bodies.

As an Affiliate Member of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) since 1984, we are honoured that from this year onwards, both organisations have joined forces to give a greater dimension to these awards.
Biosphere© and the Responsible Tourism Institute continue to collaborate with Skål International since 2019. This year, they have enhanced their support and will award the "Skål Biosphere Sustainable Special Award" to each category winner. Previously, only one out of all the winners was selected for this award. The prize consists of a free one-year subscription to the new Biosphere Sustainable platform.
This 100% online tool allows the creation of personalized Sustainability Plans for continuous improvement and recognition of any company's efforts in sustainable development, involving employees and connecting with customers. Instead of completing a static questionnaire, Biosphere Sustainable helps to improve sustainability management by selecting from more than 400 sustainable activities and actions, linked to the 169 goals of the 2030 Agenda, those that best suit the resources of each entity, with the possibility of even adding new sustainable activities explicitly created for the company itself.
Jury's Evaluation
We convey our deep gratitude to the three independent judges who will be conducting the evaluation of the Sustainable Tourism Awards 2022 until September.
In their evaluation, they will have to analyze and score the entrants' sustainable initiatives' environmental, social, and economic aspects.
Patricio Azcárate Díaz de Losada
Secretary General. Responsible Tourism Institute & Biosphere Tourism.
